Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) recognizes the importance of maintaining and enhancing the quality of the environment and has put in place responsible and achievable environmental management strategies to minimize the impact of airport operations and/or expansion. In line with the effort to incorporate good environment practices into operational activities, an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) is necessary to guide the operations of airports in Malaysia. The EMP will serve as a manual reference for parties involved in particular MAHB to properly manage the airport operations to ensure any potential adverse environmental impacts are mitigated or minimized. This study is prepared for airports operated by MAHB in Malaysia, including five (5) international airports andsixteen (16) domesticairports.
The scope of works included
- Review and formulate the environmental policy for MAHB.
- Propose organizational structure for environmental management of the airports.
- Outline potential environmental impacts such as air, noise, water, social-economic, energy use, waste generation, sensitive ecological area etc and propose associated mitigating measures for the respective impacts.
- Proposed energy efficiency and management policy and waste management policy Proposed recommendations on framework of Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
