A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was conducted on the basement car park of TTDI PLAZA taking into considerations the boundary conditions based on the weather data of Kuala Lumpur area supplied by the meteorological department (Subang Jaya) and the technical specifications of the mechanical ventilation system supplied by the designer. The CFD analysis included basic modeling of basement level 3 as the worst condition for which a thorough air flow and ventilation analysis was conducted. The study was conducted on both the normal mode and the fire mode. For both normal and fire modes, the results indicate that the velocity of air is to be above 0.27 m/s in the majority of the basement car park area. It can be concluded that the proposed mechanical ventilation system is generally satisfactory in performance in terms of air velocity and distribution- subject that several minimal modifications which are related to both the fresh air supply and the exhaust air suction points – which generally will not affect the overall basic design of the proposed ducting system.
